Discovered by Clive Davis, president of Arista Records, at the age of 20, Whitney Houston made her debut in 1985 with the album "Whitney Houston" and recorded seven consecutive No. 1 songs on the U.S. Hot 100. Her 1992 film "The Bodyguard" was also an international hit, and the theme song she sang was also a worldwide hit, earning her the title of "Diva" at a young age. In 2012, Whitney Houston sadly passed away, but her achievements have been reevaluated in recent years, and a film about her life has been produced and screened, and she is still at the center of the conversation. The archive of Whitney Houston's fourth concert in Japan in 1991 is now available on CD!
Since her debut, Whitney Houston has been on the road to success, releasing the album "I'm Your Baby Tonight" in 1990. Although it did not sell as well as her previous album, two singles cut from the album reached No. 1 on the U.S. HOT 100. As part of their world tour, the band made their fourth visit to Japan in March 1991. The March 15 concert in Yokohama was recorded and broadcast as a TV program, which was later broadcast on PBS. This live album is based on the material used for the broadcast, and includes most of the concert, including cover songs and encores. Whitney Houston's performance here is superb, as she has been described as the diva of R&B singers at a very young age!
