An Tian Xu, who studied piano under Professor Manche Liu at the Curtis Institute of Music and is a fellow student of Aimi Kobayashi of Japan, overcame an unprecedented incident at the final of the 2019 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition, when the orchestra started playing Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 1" instead of the original piece she was supposed to play.
