Description:
John Wilson & SOL Bacevich, Isay, Enescu string works John Wilson & SOL will continue to make notable releases in 2024! The superb string sound of "Metamorphosen" and "English Music for Strings" will once again intoxicate you! John Wilson & Sinfonia of London (SOL), a duo that has garnered much attention and won numerous awards, including the Gramophone Award, BBC Music Magazine Award, and Record Academy Award for their recordings, has already released their second album in 2024! Works for strings by Enescu, Isay, and Bacevich are performed with superb sound and precision by this ensemble. SOL's string section has often focused on works for string ensemble, such as "English Music for Strings" (RCHSA5264/CHSA5264), "Music for Strings" (RCHSA5291/CHSA5291), and "Metamorphosen" (RCHSA5292/CHSA5292). The orchestra has focused on works for ensemble and has earned absolute acclaim for its extremely high quality performances. They will present a dense program of Enescu, Ysaye, and Bacevich. The String Octet by Enescu, who reached the pinnacle of his career as a violinist, was composed at the age of 19, soon after he moved to Paris to study composition under Fauré and Massenet. It is a large work in four movements, with a playing time of nearly 38 minutes. Evening Harmony" is a rare work among Ysaÿe's works that is rarely performed. It is a hidden masterpiece with a moving beauty that is different from the sonatas that are her masterpieces. Bacewicz's Concerto for String Orchestra, written soon after the war, was awarded the Polish National Prize in 1950 and is one of her most famous works. Expect a full string section from SOL that will bring out the best in these works. (Tokyo M-Plus) Included in the program Enescu: String Octet in C major, Op.7/ Ysaÿe: Evening Harmony (Poem No.8) Op.31/ Bacevich: Concerto for String Orchestra Performers John Wilson(conductor), Sinfonia of London *Recordings: November 21, 2022 (Bacevich), November 27 (Isay), December 10-11 (Enescu), St. Augustine's Church, Kilburn, London
