The Tedeschi Trucks Band, led by one of the world's three greatest guitarists of our time, Derek Trucks, releases a live recreation of the entirety of the fateful classic Derek & Dominos' "Cousin Layla" at the LOCKN' Festival in Arlington, VA on August 24, 2019! Recorded live at the LOCKN' Festival in Arlington, VA on August 8, 2019, this is a one-time only live recording of Derek & Dominos' classic album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" performed in its entirety with special guest Trey Anastasio, Phish's Trey Anastasio Phish's Trey Anastasio and Doyle Bramhall II also joined the band for an unbelievably hot live performance! For the fans in attendance at LOCKN', the performance of "My Cousin Leila" in its entirety came as a complete surprise. Only the title "Tedeschi Tracks Band Featuring Trey Anastasio" was announced, with no mention of the songs they had rehearsed and planned in advance. However, the connection between the band and the album speaks volumes about them.The rock classic "My Cousin Leila," produced with two of the 20th century's leading guitarists, Eric Clapton and Duane Allman, was coincidentally released on November 9, 1970, Susan Tedeschi's birthday. Later, Chris and Debbie Trucks became fans of the album and named their first son Derek. Later, Trucks was a member of the Allman Brothers Band for 15 years and toured with Clapton. Thus, there is a deep connection between the music and the performers, and one cannot help but feel a sense of destiny in this album. Derek Trucks says the following about "Layla". I was hooked on Duane Allman's slide sound when I first started playing the guitar." His playing on 'Layla' remains one of my best memories. The spirit, the joy, the recklessness, and the inevitability. My father played that record for me and my brother when we went to bed, and it was deeply imprinted in my DNA."From "I Looked Away" and "Bell Bottom Blues" to the album's iconic title track, the Tedeschi Trucks Band revitalized the beloved classic and offered it to fans in an inventive way. At the festival show, the band closed with "Layla," but to provide walkout music for the audience to enjoy, they decided to play the original version of the album's closing song, "Thorn Tree In The Garden" over the PA system.
