Mitsuko Saruwatari, who studied under the master Willem Bronze at the Sverink Conservatory, is currently based in the Netherlands as a soloist and chamber music pianist (member of Uriel Ensemble, etc.). Following the "Poet Schumann (PKTC 1539)," which was selected as a "Special Mention" by Record Geijutsu, she has released an ambitious recording of piano works (KTC 1599) by Wilhelm Berger (1861-1911), a forgotten composer/pianist of the late German Romantic period, which has been highly praised for its unknown charm The recording was highly acclaimed for its hidden charm and high level of performance technique, and was also awarded a "Special Recording Award" by the Recording Arts Society of Japan. The success of the Berger recordings led to the release of the second volume of Berger's piano works, a sequel to the first. Wilhelm Berger was the permanent conductor of the Meiningen Court Orchestra, which produced more than 100 orchestral, piano, and vocal works, almost all of which have been published.
