May Simones releases two singles, "Krayami" and "Get Yours To It," on 7" for the first time since her debut album "Animal" in May. Mei Semones will release two new singles, "Kurayami" and "Get used to it," the first two new songs since their debut album "Animaru" in May. These two songs will also be released on 7". Kurayami" means "darkness" in Japanese. This song is about my memories of growing up in Michigan and the days I spent with my friends. I remember when I was a kid, I was really happy and having fun, but at some point I started to lose my purity. This song is about those feelings. It is one of the most technically difficult songs I have written, and it took a lot of practice before I was able to play it while singing. There are lots of fun tempo changes, odd time signatures, wide pitch arpeggios, fast licks, and I think the band's arrangement is really creative," Mei says of "Kurayami.A stylistic and cinematic music video for the song, shot in Japan and directed by Takuto Shimpo, will also be released. About "Get used to it," Semones says, "It's a song about the beauty of being lonely and alone, how to move forward while leaving space from what was important in life, and my love for the guitar and music. This is the second song I wrote with nylon strings, and the changes and melodies are slightly influenced by Thelonious Monk. The instrumentation is more minimal than the other songs, just me (guitar & vocals), upright bass, and drums. We wanted to sound like a jazz trio in a live setting, so we didn't really layer anything; we just recorded the song as it was played by the three of us, and I think that was the best way to capture the emotion behind the song," Mei explains about "Get used to it.
