Cannonball Adderley's 1972 live performance at the Theatre Olympia in Paris, France, is now available in a limited edition 180g double vinyl set, the first ever official and complete release. Live at the Theatre Olympia at the Paris Jazz Festival on October 25, 1972, featuring Cannonball's brother Nat Adderley (cornet), George Duke (piano), and Walter Booker (bass), Roy McCurdy (drums). Produced by André Francis, the album was recorded by ORTF and remastered from the original tape reels archived at the INA (Institut National d'Audiovisual de France), in cooperation with the Cannonball Adderley Estate and the INA, It will be released by Elemental Music. Parts of this concert were previously released in poor sound quality on Italian pirate vinyl, but the sound quality is now excellent and the concert has been reborn as an official and complete recording.It opens with "The Black Messiah," a George Duke composition reminiscent of Electric Miles, and continues with repertoire written by the members. The booklet includes numerous rare photographs, essays by renowned jazz writers and historians Bob Blumensaul and Zev Feldman, rare testimonies by Roy McCurdy, Tia Fuller, Lou Donaldson, Vincent Herring, and others, and Nat Adderley's first published Nat Adderley's first interview, and more.
