Re-recording of Gardiner's "Mass in B minor"! The rich sound of the Monteverdi Choir is breathtaking! Gardiner has re-recorded the "Mass in B minor". The first recording with Alhieff was made in 1985 and was praised as "Bach for a new era" at the time. Gardiner, the Monteverdi Choir, and the English Baroque Soloists toured Europe (Munich, Frankfurt, Lucerne, Aix-en-Provence, and Paris) with the B minor Mass from March 22 to 27, 2015. After returning to London, the members began recording at St. Luke's Church on March 28. The concert tour was highly acclaimed: "The incomparable Monteverdi Choir sings... Bach's music, with its meticulous counterpoint, is so beautifully performed" (The Times).This recording, the culmination of many careful rehearsals and performances prior to the concert tour, is a masterful performance of tremendous concentration and ensemble playing.
