Description:

Hervé Niquet & Conseil Spirituel re-release Detouche's musical tragedy "Kaliloe Undiscovered French Baroque Music by Hervé Niquet & Conseil Spirituel André Cardinal Detouche, one of the most successful composers of the generation between Lully and Rameau, re-releases his "Carilloé" in a new edition. Hervé Niquet and Conseil Spirituel have been highly acclaimed for their exceptional musicianship, demonstrating their exceptional performance ability in Handel's 2008 tour of Japan with a large ensemble, which shocked Japanese audiences, and in their 2010 production of Purcell's opera "King Arthur". With the cooperation of the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles and the Palazzetto Bourg Xanet, they have been reviving and re-performing the buried musical tragedies (tragedies lyrique) of the French Baroque, and in 2006 they recorded André Cardinal d'Etouche's (1672-1749) musical tragedy Kaliloe" (1743 version) by André Cardinal d'Etouche (1672-1749), which has been out of print and hard to find. This recording, which had been out of print and hard to find, has been reissued in a new edition. After hearing the first performance of Pastorale Eirock's "Ise," Louis XIV, the Sun King at the time King of France, gave the greatest compliment of all: "Not since Lully has there been music as delightful as this. He held important positions such as director of the Royal Academy of Music and conductor, and in 1727 alone, he gave 46 concerts at the Queen's Palace in Versailles, earning him the trust of the royal family. He was a composer who used innovative techniques to create numerous original works, and was a bridge from Lully to Rameau, and had a great influence on the development of French opera. Published in Paris in 1743, "Carilloët" is a moving musical drama in which love, jealousy, power, and nobility combine to create a fascinating masterpiece, a rare record that reveals the full scope and charm of "Carilloët" under the baton of the brilliant Hervé Nicquet, head of the Concert Spirituelle. (Tokyo M-Plus) Included in the program André Cardinal Detouche: Musical tragedy "Carilloe" (1743 version) Performers Hervé Nicquet (conductor), Conseil Spirituel, Stéphanie Doustraque (mezzo-soprano), Cyril Oviti (haute contre), João Fernández (bass), Ingrid Perruche (soprano), Renaud Drègue (bass), Stephanie Levida (soprano) Recorded in France, February 2006
