Description:
Bonizzoni plays Frescobaldi. A masterpiece of the Italian Baroque, "Toccata Collection"! Fabio Bonizzoni, a virtuoso keyboardist, showed his outstanding insight and virtuosity in J.S. Bach's "Technique des Fugues," and once again demonstrated his ability as one of Italy's foremost ancient music keyboard players. After Bach, Bonizzoni chose Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643), a master of keyboard music representing the early Baroque in his native Italy. ■Frescobaldi was himself an excellent keyboard player, serving as church organist in Rome and court organist for the Medici family in Florence. Among Frescobaldi's keyboard music that influenced later generations, the "Toccata I" (1615) and "Toccata II" (1627), both published in Rome, are important works that played a major role in establishing the "toccata" form.Bonizzoni uses a replica model of the 1694 B. Stefanini harpsichord made by Willem Krusbergen in 1975, and a historical organ made by Graziadio Antegnati 1565 in Santa Barbara Church, Mantova. The sound of this instrument is also a major listening experience for Bonizzoni's Frescobaldi. Tokyo M-Plus
