2023 Repress / Here's the glimmer of the Country Rock & Soul SSW that couldn't be Gram Parsons! Vinyl repress of the 2016 release "COSMIC AMERICAN MUSIC" from the nice "WAYFARRING STRANGERS" series, which has become a standard series on the NUMERO label in the U.S., bringing you a unique selection of rare folk songs. GRAM PARSONS, who left the BYRDS to fuse country, rock, and soul, created a new form of music in February 1969 with his stunning debut THE GILDED PALACE OF SIN, released with the FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS. The name "COSMIC AMERICAN MUSIC" was coined by GRAM, who disliked the term "country rock".Many singer-songwriters were struck by the impact of the earthquake, including F.J. MCMAHON in Santa Barbara on the coast, MISTRESS MARY in Hacienda Heights inland, PLAIN JANE in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and many others in areas around Southern California. Many singer-songwriters who were affected by this music appeared and quietly disappeared, leaving behind their own independent recordings. This is a compilation of such music, but it is still early 70's, and it is a great album with a lot of out-sider-music approach, which is a departure from GRAM's intended sound.
