Description:
The Orchestra Now" plays! If you have ever seen the biographical film "Maestro" about Leonard Bernstein, one of the most famous conductors of the 20th century, you have probably seen or heard of "The Orchestra Now". This is the very orchestra that appears in the Tanglewood Music Festival scene in the film. The Orchestra Now was founded by graduate-level conductors, educators, and musicians in and around New York City, and is one of the most vibrant young orchestras in the world. Together with Leon Botstein, the orchestra has also been active in the promotion of lesser-known works, including the U.S. premiere of Hugo Kauder's "Symphony No. 1" in November 2022. Kauder's music is influenced by Brahms and Mahler, but has its own unique elements. German-born Austrian composer Hans Erich Apostel, who studied under Schoenberg and Berg, remained true to his style throughout his life, even though it was considered "decadent" by the Nazis.Variations on a Theme by Haydn" is based on the theme of the second movement of Haydn's Symphony No. 103 "Drumroll". Adolph Busch is best known as a violinist, but he also left works as a composer. The "Variations on an Original Theme" recorded here is characterized by a romantic melody and was originally written for piano duet. Tokyo M-Plus
