Italian pianist Alessandro Mercando, who went from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin to the Ecole Normale in Paris, where he also studied with Aldo Ciccolini and Dominique Merle, and was invited to the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum School of Music in 2009 who was invited to the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University of Music in 2009, will dedicate this program to Brahms. In order to express the melancholy tenderness and romanticism deeply rooted in Brahms' soul, Mercando has arranged five works composed in chronological order during two distinct periods, the 1850s and the 1990s.
