Eloise Werner, co-director of the contemporary ensemble "The Hermes Experiment," formed in 2013 with the unique composition of harp, clarinet, soprano, and double bass, has released her first solo album! Werner is a soprano singer and composer born in Paris in 1991 and based in London. Her two albums on Delphian with "The Hermes Experiment" were named "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone magazine, and the release of this solo album, which offers a deeper taste of Werner's one-of-a-kind talent, is not to be missed. This ambitious album combines five of his own compositions (one of which he co-wrote with Zoë Martlew), four from Georges Aperghis' avant-garde masterpiece "Recitation," and five new pieces commissioned from composers such as Nico Murie and Oliver Reese. All but "Recitations" are world premiere recordings.The ensemble will be joined by a stellar lineup including Lawrence Power, one of the finest violists of our time and a member of the Nash Ensemble, and Amy Herman, a bassoonist who has played principal with the Philharmonia Orchestra and English National Opera, and is also a member of the Orsino Ensemble.
