Since the 70's, he has been active in Canadian rock bands such as SEA DOG, and since 1990, he has led the blues rock band DOUG VARTY BAND, which won a major recording contract as the "best new original act" in the Canadian battle of the bands, LABATT'S BAND WARZ. DOUG VARTY is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has been active in the Canadian rock/blues scene as the leader of the DOUG VARTY BAND. Throughout his career, he has recorded with legendary producers JACK RICHARDSON (THE GUESS WHO) and TERRY BROWN (RUSH, BLUE RODEO), and has performed on stage with BOB SEGER, TINA TURNER, EDGAR WINTER, JEFF HEALEY, BEACH BOYS, JOHN MELLENCAMP, JOHN LEE HOOKER, ROY ORBISON, RUSH, etc., and has toured extensively throughout Europe, Mexico, the US and Canada throughout his career. This is a compilation of previously unreleased songs by this Canadian treasure. The compilation features 15 tracks, including the title track "Keep the Dream Alive," which he sang for producer DAVID TYSON, who also worked with HALL AND OATES.The vocals, which are elongated despite their age, and the very melodic and rocking songs will catch the ears of melodic hard/AOR fans and not let them go.
