Gregorio Strozzi was a composer based in Naples, Italy in the early 17th century. In addition to composing religious music such as vocal pieces and Passions, he was also an excellent organist and left behind quite a few organ works, although there is a generational difference between him and J.S. Bach (1685-1750), who was about the same age as his grandfather and grandson, and it is possible to hear in Strozzi's works the mother and sprout that gave birth to Bach, However, we can also hear in Strozzi's works the mother and the germ of Bach's works, but more than that, we can enjoy the free, extended singing and improvisation characteristic of Italian composers.
