Ashley Solomon's solo album!Telemann unaccompanied played on three rare instruments! Ashley Solomon is the director of the Florilegium and a renowned British flutist. Her first solo recording in a while is Telemann's "12 Fantasias", one of the most famous unaccompanied flute works along with Bach! Ashley Solomon is one of England's leading flute and recorder virtuosos and is Chair and Headof Historical Performance and Professor of Recorder at the Royal College of Music (RCM). He is also a founding member of the Florilegium, one of the UK's leading ancient music ensembles, whose early members included Rachel Podger, and has been active internationally as director and flutist since 2001. In this recording, three different types of flutes are used, each made of different materials: porcelain, ivory, and wood.The wooden flute is a replica of the Carlo Palanca c.1750 by contemporary master craftsman Martin Venner. The two instruments, one made of porcelain and the other of ivory, are valuable original 18th century instruments in the collections of the Royal Collection Trust (the Royal Collection of Fine Arts) and the Royal Academy of Music.
