A versatile classical soloist, ensemble leader, and jazz musician, Helset has performed with major national and international orchestras, appeared at numerous music festivals, and in 2007 became the first classical artist to win a Norwegian Grammy (Spelman Award) as "Newcomer of the Year. Newcomer of the Year" at the Norwegian Grammy Awards (Spelman Prize) in 2007, "Newcomer of the Year" at the Echo Classical Awards in 2013, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2009, and second prize at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition in 2006.
