HANSEN,DAVID & OSLO CIRCLES

Description:

Oslo Circles "Oslo Circles" is a new baroque ensemble formed in Oslo. This is their debut album. Their debut album is titled "An Enchanted Night" and features the music of England's Henry Purcell. Purcell wrote a vast amount of music during his 36 years of life, including many songs and arias. These include dance songs in which the feet naturally take the dance steps, ode and hymn of simple beauty, contredanses and noble minuets, airs and jigs. Desire and passion, pleasure and pain, solitude and bliss. In this music, they all walk hand in hand. The program begins with "Rondeau" from the incidental music "Abdelazar," which Britten took as the "theme" for his "Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Purcell" (an introduction to orchestral music for young people), "Fleeting Music," one of Purcell's best-known songs, and the suite from his opera "The Fairy Queen, The program closes with "If Music Be the Bread of Love," a solo song based on a poem by Colonel Henry Heveningham, and "O Beautiful Isle," from the opera King Arthur.Led by baroque violinist Astri Kischner, Oslo Circles features Scandinavian and international musicians such as Concerto Copenhagen, B'Rock, Academia Montis Regalis, Barocanerne, Baroque Solistenet, and Berlin Academy of Ancient Music. The ensemble brings together musicians active in ensembles: they debuted at the Flauville Festival in France in 2017 and won the "Best Performance Award" at the Barajdin Baroque Evening, which they performed at in 2019. Australian countertenor David Hansen (1981-), invited to perform on his debut album, studied with Andrew Dalton at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, as well as with James Bowman and David Harper. 2004, he performed at the Aix-en-Provence Festival with "Daido and Ineas" at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2004.
