Description:

New work by Finnish guitarist Petri Kmela! A collection of three contemporary Finnish concertos with the Tapiola Sinfonietta conducted by Dima Slobodeniuk! Finnish guitarist Petri Kmela's newest concerto recording is his first since "Nebula" (ABCD 345). He performs three contemporary Finnish works with the Tapiola Sinfonietta conducted by Dima Slobodeniuk (1975-). Antti Auvinen (1974-) studied guitar at the Jyvaskyla Conservatory and the Prague Academy of Arts, and composition at the Amsterdam Conservatory, and in the 2010s with two "punchy" orchestral works, "JunkerTwist" (2015) and "Himmel Punk" (2016) emerged on the Finnish music scene. As the titles of these two pieces suggest, he is known for his wry and satirical sense of humor, and his collaboration with Kumera on the "Guitar Concerto" was given the "cryptic" title "Andalusian Armored Car Jazz". Andalusia" is where Auvinen had attended flamenco courses. A German "armored car" manufactured per Rheinmetall. Jazz." The work consists of four parts, "Part 1" through "Part 4," which clearly show his musical style supported by "Rhythm and Color." Lotta Vennakoski (1970-), like Auvinen, studied in Finland, Eastern Europe, and the Netherlands. Her music has been praised for its "finely honed sense of sonic color," and her "Flounce," written as a "scherzo," was performed on the last night of the 2017 BBC Proms, bringing her international recognition. The "Guitar Concerto," "Susulus," was composed in collaboration with Kumera. The piece's Latin onomatopoeic title, which refers to "creaking, dog sniffing, sobbing, air hissing, rattling, and scraping sounds," also indicates the "sonic palette" of the guitar and orchestra. It was performed by.Musicologist Korhonen defined the compositional style of Riikka Talvitje (1970-) as "favoring lyrical textures. She studied oboe at the Sibelius Academy, composition with Gérard Grisey at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et d'Art de Paris, and with Tapio Nevanlinna and Paavo Heininen in Finland before moving back to Paris to attend the composition course at IRCAM. The two-movement piece "Without Irony" was written by Vennakoski in 1972. She further promoted Vennakoski's idea of having the guitarist use a violin bow in "Susulus," and asked him to use an "e-bow," a device developed by rock and jazz guitarists. The effect was "magical, like singing" (Talvitier). King International
