The talented cellist Marko Juronen finally records unaccompanied! Marko Juronen (1966-), who studied with Erkki Rautio and Heikki Rautasalo at the Sibelius Academy and with Heinrich Schiff in Basel, has worked internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, festival artistic director and teacher. Ylonen is also active in CD recording, releasing albums of cello concertos by Rautavaara, Kokkonen, Vasks, Sichedrin, and C. P. E. Bach, and a string quartet by Sibelius. Sibelius' "Two Solemn Melodies" (BIS-1485) with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra conducted by Osmo Vänskä and the Piano Trio with Jáko Kuusisto and others (BIS-1282, BIS-1292) were included on the BIS label's "Complete Works of Sibelius. This is Juronen's first recording of one of the important repertoire pieces, J. S. Bach's Six Unaccompanied Cello Suites. He plays the six suites in an unnumbered order, from the "Passionate World" of No. 5 to the "Joyful Tone" of No. 6, in order to highlight the different characters in the "dialogue" of each suite.
