Description:

marston's new book is a collection of the complete recordings of Ina Spani, an Argentine-born prima donna. Ina Spani was born in 1890 in Puan, near Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her real name was Ihnia Tunyan. She showed her talent for singing at an early age, and after studying in Buenos Aires, she went to Milan, where she made her first appearance at La Scala in Milan in 1915. In 1928, she accompanied the great Nellie Melba on a musical tour of her native Australia. In Italy, she remained active until 1935, singing most of the major prima donnas. Unlike Italian singers, she was also active in singing songs. Unfortunately, she did not perform well in English-speaking countries, including London, and thus did not receive the international fame that she deserved.Spani's voice is extremely good, with a slightly old-fashioned quality in the middle register, but it remains thick and strong, with brilliant high notes, and even a sense of transparency. In addition, she has a great ability to express herself intelligently. Listening to this CD, one wonders why such a prima donna has been half-buried. Giannina Aranzi Lombardi (1891-1951), recorded in the margins, was an Italian soprano of about the same generation as Spani. She was immensely popular as one of Italy's leading prima donnas of her time, and even in the age of SP, she left behind complete recordings of operas such as Verdi's "Aida," Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana," Ponchielli's "Gioconda," and Beuth's "Mephistopheles. Her powerful voice is the very glory of a prima donna of the Verismo era. You can hear her favorite Verdi arias. Her surname is often combined with Arangi-Lombardi, but Arangi Lombardi is the correct name. Tobu Shoji Co.
