Iran was thought to be an undeveloped country for a long time due to the suppression of pop music and the banning of records in the wake of the Iranian Revolution of 1979, and the emigration of artists who were forced to leave their hometowns. The Persian pop music of the 1970s has been revived in the form of frontier disco and funk, and this collection includes the soundtracks of the 1960s, which flourished in the pro-U.S.-British context of the Pahlavi dynasty before the Iranian Revolution. As in Japan and other Asian countries, this collection is filled with the glimmer of the golden age of psychedelic/garage/freak beats, starting with SHADOWS and VENTURES and including BEATLES, STONES, KINKS, and other Western-invasion influences.
