After leaving the band in 1971, Thompson continued to support other projects and work on projects with his partner Linda. Richard Thompson, a leading figure in the British folk/trad scene, has been actively involved in the music scene since his last album, "13 RIVERS". This time, he goes back to his musical roots, incorporating traditional music from Scotland, Ireland, and other countries in the U.K., as well as jazz, country music, classical, and other musical styles. The album was recorded with a full band, including Michael Jerome (drs/perc), Taras Prodaniuk (b), Bobby Eichorn (g), and other longtime band members, as well as David Mansfield (fiddle) and Zara Phillips (vo), and features Richard's slow, penetrating, austere singing voice and his fresh, ageless voice. The album features Richard's slow, penetrating voice and a fresh band sound that belies his age.This is a diverse collection of songs centered on Richard's typical craftsmanship in guitar playing and emotional singing.
