The monumental album on which he began his career as a solo artist alongside his Genesis activities is now available on picture disc to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of "Face Value/Whispering in the Night"! Phil Collins will celebrate his 70th birthday next year. The monumental album "FACE VALUE/Whispering in the Night", released in 1981, marks the 40th anniversary of the release of this album. A picture disc featuring the same artwork as the cover artwork will be released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the release of this album in 1981. FACE VALUE/Whisper in the Night" is Phil Collins' first solo album. The single "Whispers in the Night" reached #2 in the UK and #19 in the US, "I Mist Again" reached #14 in the UK and #19 in the US, and "Sweet Whispers" reached #17 in the UK. The album was also a monumental work, reaching #1 in the UK Albums Chart and #7 in the US Albums Chart. The album also features some of his closest friends, including Stephen Bishop on backing vocals on "Proof of Love" and Eric Clapton on guitar on "Sweet Whispers. Produced by Phil Collins himself.Hugh Pajam is credited as assistant producer and engineer, and Arif Mardin is credited with string arrangements. This analog release comes in a gatefold jacket that utilizes the picture disc design, with the A-side featuring "Phil Collins' front face" as it appears on the original artwork. The B-side features the back of Phil Collins' head. This is a picture disc that truly lives up to the name "FACE VALUE". The sound sources used on the disc were remastered in 2016. The remastering was done by Nick Davis, who won a Grammy Award for Best Surround Sound for his Genesis "1970-1975" box set.
