American jazz pianist Fred Hirsch, who was praised as a "poet of the piano" for his delicate touch and beautiful melodies, and who Brad Meldor said, "If I hadn't learned from Fred, I wouldn't be playing the piano today. Fred Hirsch, who expanded his fan base with the release of his duo album "Alive At The Village Vanguard" with Esperanza last year, is proud to present his first solo album in four years since "Songs From Home" released in 2020, as well as his first solo piano recording. The album also features ECM's signature improvisational style. As versatile and exploratory as he is in trio and duo, Hirsch's unlimited artistic range and emotional versatility are nowhere more evident than in his breathtaking solo performances, which Jazz Times magazine has praised as "a complete, self-contained, uniquely pure art form. All About Jazz magazine praised his unaccompanied playing as "complete, self-sufficient, and uniquely pure art form" and All About Jazz magazine said, "When it comes to the art of solo piano in jazz, there are two classes of performers: Fred Hirsch and the rest. So far, the only ECM work in which Fred Hirsch has participated is a duo album with Enrico Lava, "Sa Song Is You," released in 2022.
