THE GNOMES, an up-and-coming garage/indie rock band from the Australian suburb of Frankston, Melbourne, has finally released their debut album "THE GNOMES"! The band grew out of the bedroom solo project of core member JAY MILLAR, and has been garnering attention for its explosive sound, a modern update of 60's beats in the vein of THE KINKS, THE EASYBEATS, and the early BEATLES. The band first appeared on the local live scene only about a year ago, when their "I LIKE IT EP," released exclusively on BANDCAMP in early 2025, spread through YOUTUBE and surpassed 50,000 views in just a few weeks. They quickly became the talk of the scene in Australia, and have performed with COSMIC PSYCHOS, GUITAR WOLF, THE 5.6.7.8'S, and many other prominent faces, and have begun to make their presence felt beyond their hometown. This album "THE GNOMES" contains 12 songs.The wild R&B attack of "PLAY WITH YOU" and "BETTER WITH YOU," the beat-pop catchiness of "I'LL BE THERE" and "I'M NOT THE ONE," the psychedelic "STUNG," the Cavern/Star Club-esque live heat of "FLIPPIN' STOMP," and the guitar-pop jangle of "TIME WILL TELL. The album is a collection of songs that are all well-produced, including "Flippin' Stomp," a psychedelic "Stung," and "Time Will Tell," an exhilarating guitar-pop jungle tune. A newly recorded version of the much talked-about garage tune "I LIKE IT" is also included, making this debut album a name card in its own right. Highly recommended for fans of THE KINKS, THE EASYBEATS, and early BEATLES, as well as for lovers of the current Aussie garage/punk scene (DRUNK MUMS, SKEGSS, COSMIC PSYCHOS, GUITAR WOLF area)! This is a great work that combines the impulse of 60's rock with the ongoing indie energy. A memorable first step for Frankston's "FAB FOUR" to go out into the world! Recorded at SINGING BIRD STUDIOS in Frankston, with overdubs at JAY's home. Mixed and produced by JAY himself, mastered by ANDY SIMPSON.
