Cassuto & Portuguese Symphony Orchestra commercialization of the live recording of the passionate "Roméjurí" from the 90's. The orchestra's own version of "Roméjurí" is on fire! Alvaro Cassuto, born in 1938, is a Portuguese composer and conductor. He studied law at the University of Lisbon and conducting at the Vienna Conservatory. As a composer, he was the first in Portugal to publish a work incorporating total serie rhythm and other avant-garde expressions, before shifting to a postmodern style in the 1970s. Since then, his main activity has gradually shifted to conducting, and he has been active in wielding Portugal's major orchestras and actively recording composers from his native country. Cassuto is strong in modern and contemporary works. The excerpts from "Roméjurie," which Cassuto has arranged himself, are dramatic in their continuity, while "Easter in Russia" is a masterful orchestration that is beautifully articulated. Originally broadcast live on Portuguese broadcaster Antena 2 in the mid-1990s, this is the first commercial release of the carefully remastered recording. The Portuguese Symphony Orchestra is a relatively young orchestra, founded in 1993.
