The Piatti String Quartet, named for 19th century Italian cellist Carlo Alfredo Piatti, is a hotshot ensemble that is riding high after winning a prize at the 2015 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. The quartet is actively engaged in premiering new works, and includes the world premiere recordings of the string quartets by Joseph Phibbs (1974-), a commissioned work, and Mark-Anthony Turnage (2008), a world premiere recording. Turnage's "Twisted Blues With Twisted Ballads," whose first and third movements are based on themes from Led Zeppelin's "Dazed And Confused" and "Stairway ToHeaven," was composed in 2008, then in 2010, Belcher The work was premiered by the String Quartet in 2010.
