The series, which has been critically acclaimed in live concerts and on CD, is now complete. This is the third and final installment of the Stravinsky series, which has been critically acclaimed at live concerts and on CD. The "Pulcinella," commissioned by Diaghilev, borrows music from Pergolesi's original and gives it an edgy and satirical touch with dissonances and other elements. The Symphony in C was commissioned for the 50th anniversary of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and premiered in 1940 under Stravinsky's baton. Aude was born in 1943 in Cookeville, New York. The first performance of the "Treny" was almost as disastrous as the premiere of the "Rite of Spring" in 1913. Although written in twelve-tone technique, the music is surprisingly rich and warm, with tonal elements.It is not intended for liturgical use, but is composed for concert performance, with various verses selected from "Lamentations" and no specific narrative. This is a very fine performance. The Variations is dedicated to the death of Stravinsky's longtime friend, the English novelist Aldous Huxley, who died in 1963. The Requiem Canticles, Stravinsky's last completed score (except for a few small songs), is written in the twelve-tone technique and is a work that is truly characteristic of Stravinsky: ritualistic structure, exciting harmonies, and clear, sharp colors.
