Since their debut in 1968, rock giants Deep Purple have overcome numerous crises to remain at the top of the HM/HR scene and have influenced numerous bands. In 1993, the band celebrated its 25th anniversary and Ian Gillan returned to the band for a golden lineup of album releases and world tours, and Ritchie Blackmore joined the band for the first time in 1985. The band needed to continue touring, so Joe Satriani, who was gaining attention as a solo guitar player, was brought in as a supporting member for the Japan tour. The following year, in 1994, Joe Satriani accompanied the band on its European tour, which ended without a hitch. During this European tour, the June 26, 1994 concert in Switzerland was recorded and broadcast for a radio program. This live album was recorded and broadcasted for a radio program, and the entire concert, including the encores, was captured on this live album.Joe Satriani's guitar solos are superb, faithfully reproducing Ritchie Blackmore's guitar playing but sprinkled with his own personality! This CD is a rare live archive as Joe Satriani did not join the band after this tour only, refusing the band's request.
