John McLaughlin is a British jazz guitarist. He played in both the Miles Band and Tony Williams' Lifetime band, and the live archive by the first original members of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, which he founded at the suggestion of Miles Davis, is now available! The album "Birds Of Fire" was released in January 1973, and the live album "Between Nothingness & Eternity" in August 1973, followed by the first and last Japan tour in September of the same year. This live album was recorded on December 27, three months after the tour, at Avery Fisher Hall, the home of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. The album also features the complete set list from that day, which includes the title track from the album and many songs from the album "The Lost Trident Sessions," which was recorded in June of the same year and released in 1999.This is a very rare recording that captures the final stages of the first Mahavishnu Orchestra, as John McLaughlin had to replace all the members after this.
