The Carpenters are a brother-sister pop duo who have achieved worldwide success with their unique sound style in the Western music scene. More than 30 years have passed since the death of their lead vocalist, Karen Carpenter, and their works are still strongly supported as eternal masterpieces. The master of the Carpenters' concert in Japan on June 2, 1972 has been discovered! The Carpenters had come to Japan the previous year to perform at the Yamaha-sponsored "World Song Festival," but this concert, held at the Nippon Budokan as their official solo performance, was recorded in its entirety for NHK's television program. The master tape was remastered for this CD release, and the sound quality is the best available at this time. In addition, five bonus tracks (including a medley) from the Carpenters' performance at a charity concert hosted by Burt Bacharach at Carnegie Hall in New York City on May 14, 1971, shortly after their big break, are also included. This album is a rare opportunity to enjoy the Carpenters' live performances from this period.
