The long-awaited reissue of HERMETO ('70), Hermeto Pascoal's debut album under his own name! He showed his musical talent from an early age, and made his record debut in 1961 with Conjunto Son Quatro. After playing with legendary jazz bossa combos such as the Sambraza Trio and Quarteto Novo, Hermeto Pascual followed his friend Airto Moreira to the United States. This is his memorable debut album, recorded in the U.S. during his stay. It was recorded at A&R Studios in New York and features Ron Carter, Hubert Laws, Joe Farrell, Goosey Coppola, Aiart, and Flora Prynne. The unique orchestral arrangements by Elmert, the floating vocals of Flora Prynne and Goosey Coppola, and the incomparable percussion work of Aiart Moreira come together to create a truly breathtaking worldview.The album also features a number of songs that showcase Elmert's talent, such as "Velorio," in which 36 apple juice bottles are filled with water and used as resonant instruments with different pitches to create a wonderful harmony. This is a masterpiece of Elmet's high level of musicianship and free-flowing chaotic ideas and energy, which is a perfect example of the band's style before they established their current style of joyful improvisation and seamless ensemble playing. The reissue is a great accomplishment since the CD titled "Brazilian Adventure" has been out of print for a long time.
