Brinsley Schwartz, the pub rock band that produced Nick Lowe and Ian Gomm, has been described as "Britain's The Band" and has released a 7CD set of rare, unreleased, and live recordings in Japan with obi and commentary! CD1 features the band's debut album (1970), 3 previously unreleased songs from Warner's archives, and rare studio material from Ian Gomm's archives; CD2 features the band's second album "Despite It All" (1970), and a live recording from London in 1972. CD3 contains the band's 3rd album "SILVER PISTOL" (1971), 3 rare tracks that were recorded for the album but never recorded, and live recordings. CD4 contains the 4TH album "NERVOUS ON THE ROAD" (1972) and live recordings from Amsterdam in 1972 and Paris in 1973, CD5 contains the 5TH album "PLEASE DON'T EVER CHANGE", singles released as THE HITTERS and LIMELIGHT, live recordings from Newcastle in 1973 and Cardiff in 1974. live in Newcastle in 1973 and Cardiff in 1974.CD6 features the band's last official album, "THE NEW FAVOURITES OF BRINSLEY SCHWARZ", which includes the classic song "(WHAT'S SO FUNNY 'BOUT) PEACE, LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING" (covered by Elvis Costello and Wilco). CD7 also includes the album IT'S ALL OVER NOW, recorded in 1975 but not released until 1988, as well as the band's last single, a live performance in Groningen in 1975, and a further live recording of the band's last album, THE NEW FAVOURITES OF BRINSLEY SCHWARZ, which includes the song "PEACE, LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING". Groningen, and a live performance in Cologne in March 1975, recorded nine days before the band's breakup. It also includes many rare photos from Ian Gomm's archives.
