Description:

This upgraded version of "The Legendary Testament - Rock Montreal 1981 + Live Aid 1985" clearly documents Queen at the height of their popularity when their 1980 album "The Game" reached No. 1 on the charts in the UK and the US, and Queen literally conquered the world! Meticulously restored from the original film and featuring state-of-the-art sound, these two legendary Queen performances come vividly to life! Filmed and recorded in Montreal, Canada in 1981, the film has previously been released on Blu-ray and DVD. The restored version, digitally re-mastered for IMAX with 12-channel surround sound and crisp images, was shown exclusively at IMAX theaters in the U.K., U.S., and other countries in January of this year. The film was the largest IMAX exclusive screening in history, grossing an astounding US$4.1 million (approximately 600 million yen) in four days at the worldwide box office. This IMAX version was released in Japan for a limited theatrical run at 50 IMAX locations nationwide in February of this year, and was a huge hit. The concert, which took place over two consecutive nights on November 24 and 25, 1981 at the 18,000-seat Forum in Montreal, Canada, was recorded for a feature-length concert film documenting Queen's live performances. The concerts were recorded for a feature-length concert film documenting Queen's live performances. Director Saul Swimmer shot the film using state-of-the-art double anamorphic lenses and 35mm film at the time, which enabled the film to be shown on a giant screen the equivalent of five storeys high. To ensure the highest resolution, the original 35mm negatives were scanned and inspected frame by frame to remove smudges, damage, and seams. The clarity and quality of the image has been improved, and for the first time ever in a video production, the film is recorded in both full-frame and widescreen formats. The full-screen aspect ratio is close to the way the film was originally shot, while the widescreen is an alternate presentation that has been carefully cropped to fill in the 16:9 ratio. In addition to this digitally restored Montreal performance, this package also includes the most famous 21 minutes in rock and roll history, Queen's electrifying performance at the legendary Live Aid. It too has been upgraded to high definition for the first time and features the latest stereo, 5.1, and Dolby Atmos sound mixes.
