GROOVIN' SHOWA ARCHIVES GROOVIN' Showa Archives," a compilation series of 15 CDs consisting solely of Japanese music sources produced in the Showa era owned by Tokuma Japan Communications, will be released in three consecutive months, five titles at a time, starting in May 2022. The songs are selected in chronological order from 1965 to 1989, and are categorized by genre: male singers, female singers, city pop, rock, funk & blues, disco, rockabilly, folk, punk, and new wave. The songs were selected by DJ and producer Sammy Maeda, who is well versed in the music of this era. Mastering was done by Isao Kikuchi of Mixer's Lab. The all-color 24-page booklet includes the original jackets of the songs, and some of the rare recordings are collectors' items. (Jacket illustration by Senko)
