A reissue of a hard-to-find album. This is a major event! It includes the prototype version of the ambient pop classic “HardlyEverSmile(WithoutYou)”! The first-ever reissue of the legendary self-released mini-album—known as a hard-to-find gem from the days of the female duo POiSONGiRLFRiENDS—has been confirmed! POiSONGiRLFRiEND is the solo project of nOrikO, who now captivates the world with her ethereal, whispering vocals. The mini-album POiSONGiRLFRiENDS is set for its first-ever reissue on CD and vinyl! Originally released in March 1991 on nOrikO’s own indie label, PSYCHO-PLANETCOMMUNICATIONS, this 6-track mini-album already established the unique worldview of PGF, which had evolved independently under the influence of post-punk and UK dance culture. A standout highlight of this release is the inclusion of a prototype version (alternative guitar version) of Track 1, “HardlyEverSmile(WithoutYou),” widely regarded as an ambient pop classic. Other highlights include Track 2, “YouNeverDidUnderstand,” featuring an impressive bassline and a slightly faster BPM, Track 3, “Save Our Planet,” with its beautiful intro that seems to put the collective unconscious into lyrics and carries a message still relevant today; Track 4, “I’m Here And Here I’ll Stay,” featuring a pleasant rhythm machine beat; Track 5, “Start Worrying (Use Your Brain),” with its distinctive rhythm pattern; and the closing masterpiece, Track 6 “When You Call My Name,” featuring a delicate voice shrouded in deep echoes that seems to emerge from the mist—a track you’ll want to listen to forever. This collection brings together tracks that can be considered a valuable archive of Japan’s early club music and electro sound scene. The recording features Makoto Otsu—now an indispensable guitarist for PGF—along with longtime musical friends Naoko Eto and DJ BABYTOKIO (Nobuyoshi Sekine). This is a valuable work documenting PGF on the eve of their breakthrough. Originally released exclusively on CD in 1991, this marks the first-ever release on vinyl LP. It is truly the reissue the world has been waiting for. The re-release of this rare, first indie work—which had become extremely difficult to obtain—can truly be called a landmark event.
