Zoltán Pád) Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Riccardo Frizza (Conductor) Recorded June 26-28, 2023 Studio 6, Media Services and Support Trust Fund (MTVA), Budapest, Hungary A collection of orchestral works by Elisabetta Brusa, a female composer born in Milan in 1954, this fifth collection in a series that has moved at a slower pace since 2002 features her most recent works with chorus. He had always wanted to compose a requiem, but due to his lack of life experience, he had never been able to write a satisfactory one, and he had made many prototypes. However, when he read the text of Jacopone da Todi's "Stabat Mater," he was struck by the richness of the expression of suffering in the work, and he composed the "Stabat Mater" with solo soprano voice as a stepping stone to the Requiem. Both completed works have a classical atmosphere with a sense of tonality, but also have an imposing character that is highlighted by the accomplished use of the orchestra. (Naxos Japan)
