Description:
Doati, a Grammy Award-winning composer who is attracting worldwide attention, presents his latest album in 2018, a collection of three concertos. Each features flute, percussion, and tuba as solo instruments to create a unique musical experience. The flute concerto titled "Traces of Tears" depicts the lamentations and hopes of Native Americans forced to flee their homeland in the 19th century. The final movement, an intense dance, suggests bright hope, while "Dream Machine," premiered in Cologne in 2014, depicts the relationship between man and machine that has continued since the Middle Ages and features creative music with a variety of percussion. The soloist here is the masterful Glennie. The performance is so wonderful that even Doati himself is amazed. Reflections on the Mississippi River" for tuba is a concerto based on Doati's childhood memories of a family vacation. The piece is a fantastical representation of various events, including the wildlife of the watershed and the foggy landscape swirling around the river. The soloist is Jantucci, principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Naxos Japan
