The ninth and final volume of Monteverdi's madrigals, recorded by Longini and Delithier Musique between 2001 and 2006, was published after Monteverdi's death in 1651 and contains the most famous of his madrigals, "The west wind returns and brings fine weather. The ninth volume, published after Monteverdi's death in 1651, contains his most famous madrigals, including "The West Wind Returns and Brings Fine Weather," which is about love and war, but was not compiled by Monteverdi himself. The "Musical Tamale" is also a collection of songs compiled by another person (said to be Bartolomeo Mani, who was a Monteverdi fan). This is a collection of mainly single-voice songs with a delightful bass accompaniment. This collection also opens with a Sinfonia by Marini (who played violin in the orchestra of San Marco Abbey where Monteverdi was music director), a close friend of Monteverdi's, to convey the atmosphere of the 17th century.
