Of course, Capitol Records, the parent company of The Beach Boys, gave them a mandate to produce an album for a summer release. Recording began in March with the latest 8-track recording equipment, and Brian Wilson was like a fish out of water, creating a masterpiece album with his cheerful and fresh arrangements. The album is a masterpiece. The album also includes the pop milestones "California Girls" and the U.S. #1 hit "Help Me Rhonda. The recording process of adding chorus parts and lead vocals to the basic performance tracks during the production process was captured from the working masters. The album also includes another take and a making-of version (without singing) in the same order as the songs on the album, to help the viewer visualize the completion of the song. The opening track, "The Girl From New York City," was created with a Motown sound in mind. Amusement Parks USA" is an early version with different lyrics and its basic track.
