French label Buda Musique's popular "Ethiopique" series has released 30 titles so far, and this one is perhaps the most unique among them. The main character is a great female pianist, Emmaphoi Tsegaye Mariam Gebre, who recently passed away at the age of 99.This album, produced by Buda in 2006, has never been distributed in Japan, but we have decided to release it on Rice as a memorial release in memory of her late husband. This album includes her recordings made in Germany and Israel in the 60s and 70s (some of them have recently been reissued by Mississippi Records), as well as CDs released in 1996.As the title suggests, the entire piece is a solo piano piece by the artist, and while her touch is reminiscent of post-classical and ambient music, her conscious use of a scale without 47, which gives the piece an Ethiopian feel, and her unique taste, are the main characteristics of this piece.
