The folk revival boom emerged in the U.K. and the U.S. in the late 1950s. Along with the wave of the times, forgotten prewar bluesmen such as Sun House and Bukka White were rediscovered one after another, and many masterpieces that will remain in blues history, such as "Lightnin' Hopkins" (FLR-23131) by Lightnin' Hopkins, were born. The album introduced here is one of the historical masterpieces born in the midst of the revival boom. Big Mama Thornton's "In Europe" (released in 1965) is one of the best female blues singers who impressed young bluesmen of the time and delighted many music fans.
