Orchestral works by the Estonian genius Juri Reinvere, who is portrayed with strong sympathy by Paavo Järvi] This is a collection of works by composer Juri Reinvere, who was born in 1971 in Pärnu, Estonia. He is the 2019 recipient of the award named after composer Repo Smela, who once served as the country's Minister of Culture, at the Pärnu Festival, founded by Paavo Järvi and dedicated to introducing Estonian contemporaneous music. Also in 2021, "Anna Maria Awakened in the Next Room" was featured in a well-received performance by the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Andris Nelsons. And the "Concerto for Two Flutes" on this album was introduced in Japan in 2019 by the same soloist. A poet himself, much of Rainvere's music is inspired by poetic language, but his music ranges from chamber sounds of Debussy-like beauty to loud chaos, brilliant brass reminiscent of Bruckner, and wild rhythms with a variety of percussion instruments.The title of the album, "Ship of Fools," was inspired by the Latin phrase "Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur" (The world wants to be deceived, therefore it is deceived) from a best-selling novel of the 16th century.
