VOX AUDIOPHILE EDITION is the digitization of the original master tapes at 192kHz/24bit by Mike Clements, one of the most renowned engineers of our time, from the original VOX master tapes produced by Elite Recordings, a company renowned for its high quality sound recordings.Prague-born conductor Walter Juskind conducted the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, of which he was music director from 1968 to 1975, in "My Homeland," a recording that marked the final year of his tenure. The orchestra's tone is calm and Central European, suggesting that the conductor's color was pervasive. The recording engineer, Mark Aubort, says that he tried to record with as few microphones as possible, and it is a good effect of this that the orchestra blends well and the sound image of the solo part is naturally localized without becoming too loud. Both the performance and the recording are truly natural. The sound is not flashy, so at first listeners may find the sound a little subdued, but if you listen carefully, you can hear the rich details in the mellow sound, making this a masterful recording with a deep sense of taste.
