Sempe and His Close Collaborator Fortan’s Bold Yet Exquisite Bach Bach, who was himself an outstanding keyboardist, trained numerous students on the harpsichord. This collection of arrangements of Bach’s works for two harpsichords evokes the spirit of that era. The inclusion of arrangements from organ works—many of which require the pedal keyboard—as well as arrangements of unaccompanied works for violin and cello, is reminiscent of Leonhard, the teacher whom Sempé deeply admired. This rare release on the Astree label has been revived through remastering by the genius engineer Hugues Desha, who has consistently produced divine engineering on early Alpha releases and other recordings.
