Grand Slam (Ireland)

Description:

After Thin Lizzy disbanded, Phil Lynott formed a band with Lawrence Archer, GRAND SLAM's 1st remastered album is released for the first time in Japan! GRAND SLAM was originally formed in July 1983 by Phil Lynott (THIN LIZZY), now legendary as an Irish hero, as his solo touring band. After THIN LIZZY finished the Farewell Tour in September 1983, Phil continued with GRAND SLAM. The lineup consisted of Phil, Lawrence Archer (ex-STAMPEDE/g), Mark Stanway (MAGNUM/key), Robbie Brennan (dr), and Doish Nagle (g.) The band started playing live in April 1984, but Phil passed away suddenly in January 1986. Some of GRAND SLAM's original songs had already been released to the world before Phil's death, and the single "Nineteen" was the last release by Phil before his death. The single "Military Man" was recorded by Gary Moore and Phil on the single "Out In The Fields".Dedication" was first included on THIN LIZZY's best-of album in 1991, but was controversial because the label included it without the consent of Phil and Lawrence, who wrote the song (it was later reconciled). Lawrence joined UFO in the 1990s and spent some time in the film industry before inviting original member Mark Stanway to reunite the band for a festival in 2018. This led to Lawrence making his debut album with Dave Boyce (b) and Benji Reed (dr), in addition to getting a great vocalist, Mike Dyer. In 2019, the album "Hit The Ground" was released with Matt Terry as producer, featuring songs from the 80s written by Phil, Lawrence, and Mark, as well as new songs (Japanese edition (The Japanese version has not yet been released). The first album by GRAND SLAM, the one and only band that inherits the spirit of THIN LIZZY and Phil Lynott, has been remixed, remastered, and released with new artwork in Japan at last!
