This is a collection of 20 solo guitar and turntable improvisations performed and recorded by Otomo Yoshihide in his home studio in March 2023. Otomo has released solo guitar and turntable works in various forms in the past, but this is the first time he has recorded an entirely improvised studio piece. Little Stone Records plans to continue to release a variety of albums under the name Otomo Yoshihide Solo Works. We hope you will take note of this first installment in Otomo's life's work. Guitar and turntable. What I do with these instruments, which I have known for decades, is nothing more than amplifying and feeding back the electrical signals generated by the vibrations of the strings and friction with the rotating parts. I am not sure why I am doing that. But above all, I love to improvise, especially in live performances. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've done so. I can't even count how many times I've done that, but there are very few studio recordings of my improvised solos left.I used to think that improvisation was just for the moment. However, I wonder if the years of the pandemic have changed my mindset, or if it is because I have more and more opportunities to see my close friends go to the other side. Or perhaps it is simply because I am getting older. I've been inspired to make a new studio recording of my improvisations, which I had never had much interest in preserving. This is the first of these. I did both the recording and the jacket illustration myself. I wanted to do it without making a big deal out of it. I'm a bit of a whiz by nature, so when I get a taste of something like this, I always want to do the next thing. If possible, I would like to record not only improvisational performances like this one, but also various other forms of solo activities, while my mind and body are still free. That is why I have decided to call this work "Solo Works 1. In my mind, I have already started to plan my next solo work. I am sure that the next one, and the one after that, and the one after that, and the one after that, will be interesting as well. Thanks to this, it looks like I will be busy for a while.
