He is the first Japanese pianist to win the prize. While performing in Japan and abroad, he opened a Youtube channel under the name "TAKU-ON TV. The channel has over 230,000 subscribers. After graduating from the Department of Instrumental Piano at Tokyo University of the Arts, he entered the Department of Piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he received his master's degree with highest honors.
